I finished a top for a baby quilt with an owl applique on it. I think that i will do a meander when quilting, but not quilt the owl......that way he will pop! Not that he doesn't pop with the colors I have used. LOLNot such a great picture......but what should I do with his eyes? leave them white or add a black dot in them, etc? I tried drawing a few eyes but didn't care for any of them.
Take care, Cathy
hmm, the eyes need something...maybe an orange dot?
ReplyDeleteI spotted an owl Edge 2 Edge design on one the sites I get designs from....wish I could think of it at moment brain has gone blank! My mom loves owls and I always thought if I make her another quilt I need to do the owls all over! This quilt is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat about buttons for the eyes?
ReplyDeleteI vote for buttons or an orange dot. A french knot with embroidery floss might look really cool!
ReplyDeleteTotally forgot to tell you how much I love the color combo and how cute the owl is! Did you draw the appliqué pattern out yourself?
ReplyDeletegosh, i was thinknig about a really large black eye...like almost the entire space...im not an expert on owls by any means though!! its such a cute quilt!
ReplyDeletethis is adorable...i love the owl. and the colors of the quilt are so fun
ReplyDeleteDarling quilt!!! Not sure about the eyes...need to do something. My thought was orange, too.

ReplyDeletePrecious! My first grandchild was born in Jan. and this is so adorable, I must make something like this. Once I finish my existing project! lol SO funny, I've been making a quilt for my daughter and knew it should be oversized queen. Put is on our King today and it's HUGE! so much make a new one, as my husband fell in love with it... oh well, this is how our quilts evolve and find homes. I truly think they find their own homes sometimes...
ReplyDeleteIF you get a chance to visit my blog, I live on Cumberland Isl. in GA and have lots of pics of wild horses, etc. along w/quilting... I love yours! XO
What a great quilt Cathy. I thought about using a circle of black and then orange for each eye. I was wondering too if you drew the owl or was it a pattern? It's so cute.
