So many changes

So many changes in my life, but one thing stays the same......I am still quilting on Turtle Hill Circle!

Since it has been almost 2 years I will be brief.

I lost my dad in September, Tom lost his dad the week before. And I lost my beloved Sadie on my birthday last year.

The happy things are, that I become a first time grandmother in March to a beautiful baby boy named Tomlin!! Being a grandmother changes things in wonderful ways!

Then, I got a new, well used  car after having my Beetle for 20 years. I am the proud owner of a Mini Cooper. It was love at first sight.

Thirdly, we welcome a Ruby Cavalier named Winston into our home. He is filling our hearts daily and is helping soothe my soul after loosing Sadie.

And I have lost almost 70 pounds. My knee was giving me a lot of trouble and I knew that physically that I was just going to get worse. Loosing the weight has been so good for me mentally as well.

And I keep quilting.....still love it so very much!

Thank you if you have gotten this far!!

Wake up Blog!!

It's been, oh never mind! Way too long since I have posted here. Some things have changed, like I am a few years older and no longer making dolls and dog collars. Sometimes a good idea doesn't go as planned and you need to say when.

I am still quilting a lot and also doing some knitting. I get the urge to knit a lot in the winter and then just as quickly the urge goes away. Is anyone else like that?

We did lose our sweet little man Oliver this year. He had been diabetic and blind for over 4 years and at the end he almost seemed like he had a brain tumor or some other neurological event.  He was my first Cavalier and will live forever in my heart.

Take care all,
Cathy

Not dog days, but hot days of summer

We have been having lots of high temperatures with high humidity, it seems like all summer. We have AC but I love to be outdoors and so do my furkids so we get out several times a day, but come back in quickly.
Two of my sweeties....Sadie and Phoebe.

I am very excited about fall, lower temps and sleeping under quilts again!!

I opened another etsy shop to sell collars and leashes....I didn't   have many sales so I decided to close it. That was pretty upsetting to me for a while, but I have decided to not let it bother me anymore. We can't always be successful at certain things.

Still making things for my other shop.... I can't give up entirely!!

Back soon with quilt photos....I now have 15 ready to be quilted!! Eek!

Take care,
Cathy

Lots of sewing going on…..

Always sewing if I can…the joy that quilting brings me is wonderful. When I am happy I want to quilt and even when I am worried about something, quilting helps soothe me.

I have made probably 8 Wee Wander quilts…I love this fabric, especially the softness of it.

A little secret sewing for a wonderful Cavalier Rescue lady.

 Pumpkin pillow for my daughter.

Quilt top for my daughter, yes, I love sewing for her.

I got on the Granny Square wagon way late, but love them and can't wait to quilt and use this one.

 Fun pincushion to make.

 A pillow for Cavalier Rescue.

I adore the Little Red Riding Hood fabric by Tasha Noel and still have a bit left.

Miss Kate fabric by Bonnie and Camille…I adore making this quilt pattern, so much fun.

Back of the Little Red Riding Hood quilt.

I will be back with more pics, hopefully not as long as it took me to upload these.

Happy Quilting,
Cathy

Quilting is my Therapy :-)

As I get older and maybe a little bit wiser, I am finding that very little in life gives me as much joy as quilting does. I have been quilting for about 35 years and have never lost the desire to quilt. I have been a spinner, weaver, knitter, clothes seamstress, temari maker, doll maker  and even tried my hand at a little bobbin lace, but quilting is the one craft that I go back to time and time again.

I haven't posted in forever so this will just be lots of pics of what I have been up to.

Take care,
Cathy

Sewing Machine Love

I may not be a good blogger, no, I am a terrible blogger, but I am always sewing. If a day goes by and I can't sew I feel like something is missing.
I have been making a few dolls, but a lot of quilts.

I made 2 low volume quilts and actually kept one for myself. Because I got a little carried away cutting 5" squares, I will be able to make several more.

You don't think it is going to work out with all of the different fabrics but I think low volume quilts turn out so nice.

Close up…..

My cute photo bomber...

A custom quilt for someone who lives in Germany...

Another custom quilt….I always get such a warm feeling when someone actually wants to buy one of my quilts.

A doll and dolly quilt for a very sweet mama….

What are you working on? I would love to see pictures.

Is anyone interested in doing a "Charmed Whirlygig" quilt along? I have a flickr group that I can revive…I thought it would be fun to do this winter. Please let me know.

Take care and stay warm and safe if you are living where it is snowing and frigid.
